This album is an artistic and conceptual journey that may appear dualistic. Some might see in it a reflection on the dichotomies of "Eros" and "Thanatos," while others will discern references to the "life drive" (Lebenstrieb) and the "death drive" (Todestrieb). A simplification that, at first glance, might seem confirmed by the references to Georges Bataille's Acéphale in track A1. However, upon closer examination, this cannot be the case if you consider the poems by Abu Nuwas quoted on the second side of the album. Let those who wish to misunderstand us do so. But that would be a very simplistic approach, which in no way reflects our way of working.
Indeed, the tones of the compositions presented on the two sides are clearly and explicitly opposed. But the dichotomy that inspired this work lies in the contrast perceived when polarizing emotions arise: on one side, anguish, depression, anxiety; on the other, exaltation, intoxication, euphoria.Spare observed that the functional root of an emotion remains common, while its manifestation is dual. Similarly, with more poetic overtones, Wittgenstein emphasized that the world always remains the same, whether perceived by an unhappy or a happy person. It is in this liminal zone of contrasting perception, in this profound confusion of feeling and thinking, on this edge overlooking the chaotic abyss of the human soul, that we would like to invite you to pause for a moment, in a sacred awe. For it is on this threshold that Art and Magic find both their origin, their field of action, and perhaps their possible fulfillment. this album is an artistic and conceptual journey that may appear dualistic.
